Are you an outside the box thinker, or do you play it safe? Either way, my question is what about the box?
What about the box?
If you have small children in your life, you already know that birthday gifts are great, but it’s the box that excites the child.
I heard an excellent analogy this week that could be aptly applied to midlife.
As a child, your parents may have purchased a new appliance that arrived in a huge box. You know… the kind of box that was transformed once the parents tossed it out. There was no limits to the scope of imagination for that box. It could be a rocket ship, a castle or a boat. Hours, no weeks, were spent creating and recreating that one box.
The gift of midlife is similar, life just handed you a brand new refrigerator box to play with. With childlike curiosity and wonder, the box could be anything!
The crisis
I’ve heard numerous reasons to think midlife as a crisis. Questions haunt you once you’re aware that you’ve entered midlife.
What will you do now that all the kids have flown the coop?
Who are you after retirement?
You question if you can really connect with the person you raised a family with.
Is it too late to go back to school or learn a new skill?
The most important question in my book is what do you like to do for FUN?
The Gift
This whole new chapter of your life is a pivot from one season to another, and a chance to really get to know yourself. With an inquiring mind, allow yourself to playfully explore abundant possibilities.
Finally, you have the time and finances to explore dreams and interests buried the past few decades. It’s not too late! Believe it or not, there are inspiring women advanced in years still going strong.
Moxie movement
I’m on a roll, literally. As you read last week, I got my moxie moving by roller skating! It feels so retro!
In addition, I’ve focused on the word liberate and shared how you can step into your power.
If you haven’t yet noticed, I wholeheartedly believe in rising above the midlife BS.
My goal is to create a #metoomoxie movement!
What about your box?
This new season doesn’t need to be an identity crisis or lonely. The beauty of midlife is that you can indeed approach midlife as a child with a refrigerator box and invite friends to join you!
Not sure where to start? I can help!
